Specifically designed to satisfy the needs of nightlife, live events and entertainment industries, Micrashell is a virus-shielded, easy to control, fun to wear, disinfectable, fast to deploy personal protective equipment (PPE) that allows socializing without distancing.

During these times of crisis, all sectors in which any close interaction or physical contact was expected have entered a crisis never seen before, and despite the fact that we are talking about reopening, many sectors are unlikely to be as before.

Several design studios have participated in the research and design of innovative solutions to the problems brought about by the pandemic, but one, in particular, caught our attention.

Production.club’s Micrashell was born as a socially responsible solution to safely allow people to interact in close proximity. Specifically designed to satisfy the needs of nightlife, live events, and entertainment industries, Micrashell is a virus-shielded, easy to control, fun to wear, disinfectable, fast to deploy personal protective equipment (PPE) that allows socializing without distancing.

Comprising an air-tight top suit and helmet, Production Club’s Micrashell PPE suit has a number of functions designed to facilitate a party environment, with a built-in sound system, capable of regulating the levels of various audio sources from the DJ and your friends, to ambient noises and wireless voice communication — while other special features mean you can vape, drink, and, according to what they stated, even have sex while wearing it.

“The Micrashell was born from concern for our community, and concern about reckless social behavior” Miguel Risueño, the studio’s Creative Director, told design and architecture website Dezeen.

“After witnessing the events industry fall into an unprecedented recession, and seeing large groups of people ignore social distancing directives in order to go out and party, we felt obligated to address both issues and find a solution that benefited all”

The studio went on to write on its Instagram page: “We wanted to leverage our experience in event production to propose a solution for the events industry.”

The suit is in the early stages of testing, but considering how fast things are happening this year we might be dancing flexing this mad fit sooner than we think.

Partially citing the prophetic Biennale 2019 slogan, we at CAPSLOCK are every day more convinced that “We truly are living through interesting times”.
